The PBS industry was responsible for 27% of all UK service exports in 2017 according to ONS, a total of £66bn. Within the UK, the sector makes up 25% of all businesses, with a combined turnover of £399bn. Financial services continued to be the largest service product exported globally, with £21.7 billion worth exported by UK businesses (excluding travel, transport and banking industries) in 2018.

Recently, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) unveiled an industry roadmap to enhance and strengthen its role as a core Asian financial hub, implement strategies to grow the sector by at least 4% every year, and incorporate new technological innovations into the current market to improve efficiency and productivity. As an international financial centre, it is home to over 1,200 financial institutions.
